Sculptra Injections – How Can They Help?

Wrinkles and skin folds are an inevitable side effect of aging. Many patients age more quickly than they would like due to genetics, sun damage or other conditions. With injectable fillers, patients can lessen the signs of aging to look years younger and more rested. Sculptra is one of the top injectable fillers today and offers patients two years of rejuvenated appearances after their initial treatment.

Sculptra has been administered since 1999 and is known to enhance the appearance of sunken eyes, hollowed cheeks, indents in chin surfaces and skin folds. Many patients use Sculptra injectable fillers to fill in nasolabial folds, also referred to as smile lines, around the mouth and nose. Sculptra has been proven to enhance the appearance of skin folds and wrinkles by as much as 80 percent, with results fully apparent after three to six treatments.

Patients interested in Sculptra typically begin their procedure by meeting with a highly skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon. The plastic surgeon will evaluate the patient and determine if he or she is a good candidate for Sculptra. If the patient is qualified for the procedure, the plastic surgeon will then carefully evaluate the patient's facial structure to locate the ideal injection sites. In addition, the plastic surgeon will determine the appropriate amount of Sculptra to help patients achieve their desired looks.

Once the plastic surgeon is ready, he or she will gently administer the Sculptra injection carefully underneath the dermis and subcutis layers of the skin and then gently massage the injection sites to ensure even distribution. Following the procedure, patients are advised to apply ice packs to ease swelling.

Sculptra and other injectable fillers are often a part of a skin rejuvenation treatment plan. Many patients who have previously undergone facelift, brow lift or other anti-aging plastic surgery procedures often supplement their results with injectable fillers to maintain their rejuvenated appearances.
